My name is Magnus Vestberg and I have been a Depeche Mode fan since the end of 1981.
About 2 months after the first album "Speak & Spell" was released.
By that time I just liked the songs on that first album and in 1982 I wasn't sure if I was gonna buy
the second album.
I guess that after I bought that second album and really liked it too I became a real "fan".
After that I pretty much bought everything I could find with Depeche Mode.
I think it was in 1983 I started to buy all the 7" vinyl singles and the 12" maxi-singles and really began to collect Depeche Mode records. I was a "fanatic" Depeche-fan who had to buy everything with them even a record I already had but if it had a different cover or something I bought it. :-)
I also started to listen to other synth-based bands such as: Ultravox, Human League, Yazoo and Alphaville.
I even bought 2 keyboards/synthesizers and learned how to play.
I still have that same or perhaps more interest for synth/electronic-based music now 36 years later in 2017.
I have seen Depeche Mode live 10 times (1990, 1993, 1998, 2001, 2 times in 2006, 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2017).
The best so far was probably on 7th of July 2006 in Stockholm Stadium.
With about 30 000 people in the audience it was an amazing atmosphere and a great sight with 60 000 waving hands during
"Never Let Me Down Again." It was also nice to hear the song "Photographic" again after all these years. [HOME]
